How To Guide:
Uploading A Custom Snapchat Filter
Please note that this process must be completed from a desktop/laptop computer.
1. Log into Snapchat's Geofilter Platform
Visit www.geofilters.snapchat.com and login using your personal Snapchat account credentials.
2. Upload Your Custom Filter
Click "Choose File" and select your custom filter created by Katelyn Davis. This filter was created to meet the rules and guidelines of Snapchat.
3. Name Your Geofilter
Once you upload your custom geofilter you will have the opportunity to give this filter a custom name. The name will not show to users.
4. Schedule Run Times
In the next slide you will be able to schedule the run times for your geofilter. Keep in mind that the longer your filter runs the more expensive it will be to run it. It is also important to note that Snapchat will only allow you to schedule a geofilter during the upcoming month, so don't try and schedule it too early. Additionally, it's best to give Snapchat 48 hours to review your geofilter.
5. Make Your Geographical Selection
Using the map, powered by Google Maps, find your event location and use the "Draw Fence" tool to outline where you would like your filter to be available during the scheduled time. Your geographical area must be at least 20,000 square feet (the site will calculate this for you). Keep in mind that the large of an area you select the more expensive it will be to run.
As you draw your geographical fence, the cost to run your geofilter will calculate at the top. Use this to help determine how large of an area you'd like your geofilter to cover. You can also adjust the timeframe from this area.
6. Finalize Your Payment
In the next slide you will need to identify whether your filter is for personal use or for a business and you will need to agree to the terms of service. After that, all you need to do is enter in your credit card information for payment and you're all set!
Once you submit your geofilter to Snapchat, you will receive a series of emails as it moves through their approval process. Once it is approved, you'll see your filter go live at the identified time within the geographical fence you set in place.
Monitoring Use of Your Filter
Once your filter is live, you will be able to monitor the use and impact of your filter. Just log into www.geofilters.snapchat.com and click on your name in the upper right corner. A drop down menu will appear and you will need to click on My Orders. From there you can click on your geofilter and see how many times it has been used and how many people have viewed the pictures shared on Snapchat by the users using the filter.
